PMDC Bill 2022 Passed By National Assembly
The National Assembly recently passed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Bill 2022 in a joint session.
Sponsored by PPPP lawmakers such as Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto and Syed Agha Rafiullah, the House passed the PMDC Act 2022. In addition, the government also passed the decision not to take the MDCAT and NLE from medical and dental students. The House also passed the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Bill 2022, sponsored by Syed Agha Rafiullah.
Decided To Recover PMDC From PMC
With the coming into force of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Act of 2022, the existing Commission was formed under Section 4 of the Pakistan Medical Commission Act of 2020. The Minister responsible for the Section shall administer the affairs of the Council pending the constitution of a new Council under this Act and the election of a new President and Vice-President. During a transitional period, the Minister in charge of the department will be responsible in the Council.
Abdul Qadir Patel, Minister for National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination, commended the National Assembly for repealing two controversial laws passed by Pakistan’s former Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
He said the repeal of two black laws, the Pakistan Medical Commission and the PIMS Act, was a positive move to speak on the Rules of Procedure in the National Assembly. More than 55% of the places at Sindh Medical College remained unfilled due to the PMC Act 2020. More than 18,000 students have chosen medical education abroad since the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences was established as a private company under the PIMS law.
With government approval, he said several favorites received Rs 1 million, Rs 2 million, and Rs 800,000 in salaries. He said the current government is focused on demonstrating achievement and providing people with the best possible amenities.

PMDC was replaced by PMC in the previous govt
