In flood-hit areas, the Prime Minister has approved Kissan Interest Free Agriculture Loans for sharecroppers. He added that the government has increased the value of the Production Index Unit (PIU) from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 to qualify for loans for agricultural use.
“A subsidy of Rs 5,000 crore has been provided for these loans,” he said.
In addition, the government has allocated Rs 10 billion for the SME modernization plan for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agricultural sector.

Kisan Dost Scheme Offer Used Tractors
The government has chosen to import used tractors to offer a cheaper alternative to more expensive locally-made tractors as the local tractor industry has a monopoly and interested parties have refused to cooperate with the government, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
To help farmers who cannot buy locally made tractors, the government will import used tractors up to five years old (with proper certification).
However, he added that if the government and the tractor manufacturer had worked together, this decision would not have been made as it would harm the regional sector.
The Prime Minister also said that people who import these used tractors older than five years will get a 50% tax rebate, a 36% rebate for tractors older than three years and the tariff rebate will be set appropriately will. He added that CKD (Completely Knocked Down) parts have been reduced from 35% to 15%.
