PM Imran Khan Announces Kissan Card Scheme to Encourage Farmers

Prime Minister Imran Khan said Monday his government was determined to upset the country’s peasants.

This was explained on the way to a ceremony to distribute Kissan cards to farmers in Multan. Calling producers the backbone of the country, Prime Minister Khan said the Kissan card system is a major initiative by the Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to improve farmers’ living standards.

“The plan will raise farmers’ living standards.”

Farmer advances will finally elevate the land. The Prime Minister said that wheat farmers made 500 billion rupees from their crops and that the rate of wheat harvest has increased by 500 rupees during the current administration’s tenure so far.

Prime Minister Khan said his government was working to provide loans to farmers through Kissan Cards to help them make up for their losses.

He emphasized the need to use modern farming methods to increase production. “Growers are still using age-related farming methods.”

The prime minister advised farmers to grow more wheat, saying that the margin of loss in growing various fruits and vegetables is 50 percent, while it is only 20 percent in growing wheat.

“Our goal is to double farmers’ incomes.”

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Khusro Bakhtiar also attended the ceremony.
