Petrol Price in Pakistan Increased To Rs272 As Of 16th February 2023

The federal government hiked petrol prices by Rs 272 a liter to placate the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for releasing the critical tranche of the loan, hours after a hefty ‘mini-budget’ on taxes was unveiled.

A press release from the Treasury Department said the new prices would take effect from 12 noon from that night.

The price of petrol rose to Rs 272 per liter after a rise of Rs 22.20, the department said, noting that the rise was due to the rupee’s depreciation against the dollar.

The price of high-speed diesel has been increased to Rs 280 per liter after an increase from Rs 17.20. Kerosene oil will now be available at Rs 202.73 per liter after an increase of Rs 12.90. Meanwhile, light diesel fuel will be available at Rs 196.68 per liter after an increase of Rs 9.68.
