Passport Offices Across Pakistan Remain Open Today
Due to the influx of citizens seeking passport services, the Directorate General for Migration and Passports (DGIP) has announced that regional passport offices across the country will be operational on Saturday 11 February.
The decision was made in response to the large number of people who flocked to the offices after fake news about increased passport fees went viral on social media.
Passport offices in Central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area, Sindh area, North Punjab/Azad Kashmir area/Gilgit Baltistan area, Balochistan area, South Punjab, and the regional offices especially for the HQ are from 8.00 to 20.00 o’clock open who have already deposited their passport fees online or with the bank.
Sindh Immigration and Passport Director Khalid Memon have confirmed that 13 passport offices in Sindh including Karachi, Larkana, Hyderabad, Sanghar, etc. will be open on Saturday.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior has stated that reports of higher fees for machine-readable passports are unfounded and that the fees have not been increased. The Department of Immigration and Passports recently adjusted the fee for e-passports, while fees for traditional passports remain the same.
