Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, recently discussed the visa challenges facing Pakistani citizens. He described the situation as serious and significant, adding that officials in both countries are working together on a solution.
Tirmizi told Arab News that visa approvals have dropped over the past year. This decline links to concerns over document authenticity, legal issues, and some political activities tied to applicants. He mentioned that top UAE officials have reviewed the situation.

The UAE now uses artificial intelligence (AI) to verify documents, leading to more rigorous checks. Problems with educational and qualification certificates have led to visa rejections, including cases where credentials are valid but the paperwork is flawed.
Tirmizi pointed out that the job market in the UAE has shifted, with fewer positions available for workers without specialized skills. He suggested that Pakistan expand training programs in IT, artificial intelligence, and healthcare to match the changing job market.

Visa challenges persist. Money sent back from the UAE has grown sharply, rising by 53.9% compared to last year. Some estimates expect remittances to hit around $3.58 billion for FY2025. The ambassador stressed that improvements in education and skill development could boost employment opportunities overseas.
