Pakistan Announces Petrol, Diesel and LPG Price Hikes Amid Rising Inflation

On December 1, the Pakistani government announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices, adding to the growing financial strain on citizens as inflation keeps rising. The price of petrol went up by PKR 3.72 per litre, now costing PKR 252.10 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel has increased by PKR 3.29 per litre, reaching PKR 258.43 per litre. This hike is due to high premiums on petroleum products worldwide and higher import costs.

Big Update: New Petrol Prices in Pakistan from Dec 1

Just a month ago, on October 31, the government raised petrol prices by PKR 1.35 to PKR 248.38 per litre, while high-speed diesel saw a PKR 3.85 increase, bringing it to PKR 255.14 per litre.

In addition, on November 30, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) raised the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to PKR 254.30 per kilogram for December. As a result, the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder increased to PKR 3,079.79 from PKR 2,999.47 in November. This rise is attributed to the strengthening of the US dollar.

These price changes, effective from December 1, are adding more pressure on Pakistani consumers, who are already grappling with inflation and rising fuel costs.
