Pak announces complete ban on tourism and travel during Eid Holidays (May 8-16)

The Interior Ministry announced new restrictions across the country on Tuesday, including a total tourism ban from May 8-16.

Accordingly, the Ministry of the Interior has also issued a circular in this regard. According to the new measures announced by the government, transportation between cities and provinces is prohibited during the Eid holidays. However, locals are allowed to travel, especially from Gilgit Baltistan (UK).

NCOC has decided to close all tourist attractions, public parks, hotels and shopping malls during the Eid vacation.

Authorities have also decided to close public transport and only Gilgit-Baltistan citizens can visit their areas.

The press release said the NCOC had decided to continuously power the masses during the oath.

The following are the new restrictions announced by the government:

  • Early SOPs for Itekaf, Shab-e-Qadar, Friday prayers and Eid prayers
  • Ban on tourism from May 8-16, including Eid holidays
  • Tourist spots, parks , and hotels to be closed
  • Prohibition of travel between provinces and cities (only residents of Gilgit-Baltistan are allowed to go home)
  • Travel nodes leading to tourist attractions to be closed, such as Murree, Galiyat, Swat, Kalam, and northern areas
  • Sea view and to Closing Beaches

The notice issued by the Home Office added that it will ensure uninterrupted power to residents across the country. The guidelines were sent to the home departments of all provinces.
