Pakistan And Qatar Promote Cooperation in The Energy Sector
Pakistan and Qatar on Wednesday agreed to increase cooperation in the energy sector and encourage and facilitate Qatari investment in the country’s renewable energy, tourism, and hospitality sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, at Diwan-e-Amiri in Doha.
Among other things, the two sides agreed to strengthen institutional engagement to increase bilateral trade, deepen cooperation in the agri-food sector, boost energy cooperation and encourage Qatari investment in the energy sectors of renewable energy, tourism, and hospitality Pakistan, provide more opportunities for Pakistanis interested in working in Qatar and expand cooperation in defense, aviation, and maritime sectors.
Prime Minister Emir recalled Pakistan’s longstanding partnership with Qatar in the field of LNG cooperation and thanked Qatar for its vital support in meeting Pakistan’s energy needs. The two sides also explored new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector.
During their extensive consultations, the two heads of government exchanged views on bilateral, regional, and international issues. They expressed satisfaction with the upward trend in Pakistan-Qatar relations and agreed to work together to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Diwan-e-Amiri, the Prime Minister was received in an official ceremony by the Emir and presented with a guard of honor. The two heads of state and government then held consultations at the delegation level.

The Emir assured the Prime Minister of Qatar of his commitment to forging a stronger economic partnership with Pakistan. The Prime Minister thanked the Emir for the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA)’s willingness to invest US$3 billion in Pakistan’s business and investment sector.
The prime minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included cabinet ministers and senior members.
