The NCOC has written letters to the provincial governments directing them to prepare for two-week-long lockdowns in twenty cities from the start of May amid Ramadan in a bid to curb the surge in coronavirus cases.
According to the details, the 20 cities where the blockade is being imposed are in the hardest hit and difficult-to-control districts.
The NCOC has also shown that city closings have been carefully planned and that provinces need to implement them accordingly.

The 20 cities that will be closed are:
- Islamabad
- Rawalpindi
- Lahore
- Multan
- Faisalabad
- Gujranwala
- Bahawalpur
- Hyderabad
- Peshawar
- Dir Lower
- Mardan
- Nowshera
- Malakand
- Charsadda
- Swat
- Swabi
- Muzaffarabad
- Sudhanoti
- Poonch
- Bagh

Meanwhile, Pakistan has reported the highest number of coronavirus deaths in the past twenty-four hours.
The virus killed 201 people and brought the death toll in the country to 17,530.
