Pak Army is assisting the provinces implement the COVID-19 SOPs
Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed confirmed the news of asking the Pakistani army for help through a video message posted on Twitter. He said the decision was made in light of the increase in cases in Pakistan and the critical situation in neighboring India. However, he did not elaborate on why the orders were not extended to Sindh.
He said, “This is a great decision [by the government to enlist the help of the army] as between 350,000 and 400,000 cases of coronavirus are reported daily in our neighboring country, India.”

The Ministry of the Interior issued an official notice that the government will seek assistance from the Pakistani Army in implementing the COVID-19 Standard Operating Instructions (SOPs) as cases rise across the country.
The decision was made by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday April 23rd during a meeting of the National Coronavirus Coordinating Committee.
According to the announcement, all parts of the country, with the exception of Sindh, including Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the capital city of Islamabad, will use the support of the Pakistani army to strictly implement the SOPs for coronavirus. However, the provinces will convene the army according to their needs.

The Sindh government wrote a letter to the Interior Ministry on Sunday asking the army for assistance with civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution.
The Sindh government said it would provide details of the deployment of troops and equipment to the Home Office after consulting the matter.
On the other hand, the Sindh Information Ministry, Nasir Hussain Shah, has warned that the provincial government will impose a blockade if the situation in Sindh becomes alarming.

Punjab Minister of Health Dr. Yasmin said the Punjab government is regularly monitoring the situation, adding that people who fail to follow coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) will face a four-day lockdown over the next two years.
