Who is Omari Drovon Alexander? Biography, Wiki

Authorities said Omari Drovon Alexander was a college football player who died Saturday outside an apartment complex in North Carolina.

What Was The Incident?

Alexander was shot multiple times while in the driver’s seat of a black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro at Hickory. Officers found him with the engine around 12:50 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment building.

Alexander was close to the Lenoir Rhyne University football team. As per the university’s website, she was from Charlotte and attended Mallard Creek High School.

As per The Hickory Daily Record, Lenoir Rhyne University President Fred Whitt sent an email to the community around 11:30 a.m. Saturday informing them of Alexander’s death.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the university said that “out of respect for her family, the university will not comment at this time.”

Barrowman counseling is available to students and staff. A memorial service for Alexander is planned for Monday at 10 a.m., Witt said in an email.

What Police Have Investigated Up Till Now?

Lenoir Rhyne University President Fred Whitt sent an email to the Lenoir Rhyne Congregation around 11:30 a.m. Saturday of Alexander’s death. A post was also posted on the Lenoir Rhyne University Facebook page.

Grief counseling is available to Lenoir-Rhyne students, faculty, and staff. Counselors at Cornerstone House on the Hickory campus are available for walk-in lessons from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The email stated that there will also be a memorial service at the PE Monroe Auditorium on Monday at 10 a.m.
