Oliver Wood Cause Of Death
The film industry lost one of its most versatile cinematographers last week with the death of British veteran Oliver Wood at the age of 80.
According to Wood’s agents at the Murtha Skouras agency, he died of cancer on 13th February.
Wood, who immigrated to New York at the age of 19, is best known for his work on the series Bourne, Die Hard 2 (1990), Face/Off (1997), Freaky Friday (2003), Talladega Nights: The Ballad of known Ricky Bobby (2006) and Face to Face (2002-07).
He recently collaborated with Daniel Espinoza on the 2022 Marvel film Morbius; the two had previously done so in the 2012 films Safe House and Child 44th (2015).
Wood’s first big break in the industry came working for director Leonard Kastle on the cult murder film The Honeymoon Killers (1969). He then directed many B movies, independent films, music videos and commercials in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Wood was first discovered by major film producers through his work as cinematographer on all 53 episodes of the crime thriller Miami Vice, where he served as principal cinematographer from 1987-1989. He is best known for his work in films. from Face/Off (1997) to Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013).
The Bourne Ultimatum earned Wood a BAFTA nomination in 2007. He worked with director Paul Greengrass on the set of the Bourne trilogy, citing films like The Battle of Algiers as an influence and using multiple cameras to create a distinctive naturalistic effect. As a result, it introduced a distinctive style to Hollywood action films in the early 2000s.
