National Aerospace Science and Technology Park Importance For Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), a joint venture between the government, international companies, and the private sector.

At a ceremony here, he thanked the leadership of the Pakistan Air Force for initiating the project. He said the project bodes well for activities related to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The Director General of the NASTP Air Commodore, Dr. Liaquatullah told the audience that the Pakistan Air Force has made many achievements in the field of aerospace technology. He said that the institution has set up research and development centers for the development of new-generation skills.

“This is a project of national and strategic importance that will create ecosystems and bring multiple benefits,” he said.

He claimed the project’s record time completion is a significant milestone for the country’s aerospace self-sufficiency.

The project comprises three campuses: one for private sector firms, another for cyber and AI companies, and a third for aerospace, space, sensor, and exhibition data centers, according to the announcement.

Air Commodore said the entire NASTP has been declared a special area and will receive several important benefits, including subsidies, tax and duty exemptions, and functioning as a platform with great networking opportunities.

The air force chief has already ordered the start of phase two to set up the city and university-level facilities, he said.

The NASTP was a key initiative of Aviation City Pakistan, aimed at fostering innovation in aeronautics, space, computing, and cybernetics through a comprehensive ecosystem for design, research, and development.

NASTP was a pioneering organization in Pakistan supported by the Government of Pakistan as a “Strategic Project of National Importance” led by the Air Force of Pakistan to create opportunities for collaborative work between industry, universities, and government and integrate them into a technological ecosystem in Pakistan to convert the country.
