NADRA Confirms Biometric System is Operational

NADRA has assured the public that its biometric system is working without issues and any authentication problems at banks or telecom firms are unrelated to its database.

Addressing concerns on social media, NADRA explained that it provides verification services under regulatory requirements. Banks use the Verisys system for secure identity checks beyond fingerprints. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) oversee its use by banks and telecom firms.

For SIM issuance, NADRA has partnered with PTA and mobile operators to set up verification at service centers. Users facing issues should report them to their telecom provider or PTA. Plans are underway to introduce facial recognition for cases where fingerprint authentication fails.
