Michael Miecielica is accused of bringing a knife into a Wisconsin polling station during the midterm election and telling officials to “stop voting”.
The incident happened on 8th November 2022 at the West Bend Community Memorial Library in Wisconsin amid hotly contested elections for the governor and the United States Senate.
Police released a body video of Miecielica’s arrest.

Wisconsin Election Knife Suspect And Police Investigation Report
Police responded to reports that a knife-wielding man had called for a halt to voting at the West Bend Community Library on Poplar Street Tuesday afternoon during the election.
Miecielica was found standing in front of a library counter, “with the handle of a hunting knife that had been stabbed into the counter,” the complaint said.
West Bend Police released body camera video showing Miecielica’s arrest. The complaint indicates that children were present during the ordeal. The library was closed for 30 minutes to allow police to investigate. Eighteen library staff or volunteers went to a back room for shelter.
A librarian said she overheard Miecielica saying he wanted the elections to stop and that he was a bad man who needed to go to jail, and mentioned putting up signs downtown.
When police spoke to Miecielica, prosecutors said she told investigators, “I did it here because I didn’t want to disturb the children. I did it so he would call the police because I’m a bad person and should go to jail. He said he stabbed the accountant “to show he was a bad person”.
According to the ad, knives were found in his backpack. In the body camera video, you can hear Miecielica telling police that she had four in her bag.
Speaking to detectives, Miecielica said he wanted to point out “that he saw kids in the library and tried to scare them because he didn’t want the kids to get hurt.”
He said he was “broke” and “a bad person”.
He said he “didn’t want it to go that far”. Miecielica added that he “was scared and scared for the last 10 years about all the political stuff that was going on.”
Charged
Bail issues have been a major concern in Wisconsin since the suspect in the Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade attack was uncovered. He was out on bail on two ongoing felony counts.
West Bend is in an adjacent county. Police say Miecielica was out on bail when he was charged in the stabbing incident.
“The man arrested in this incident was out on bail for a previous investigation into the posting of leaflets in downtown West Bend that contained threatening political and racial language,” police wrote.
