Baja California attorney general Hiram Sánchez told reporters that the three-year-old boy was stabbed twelve times.

The one-year-old girl was stabbed 17 times. A blood-stained wooden stake was found on the site, Sánchez said.

Coleman and his wife Abby run the famous Love Water Surf School in Santa Barbara. Sánchez said concerns about Coleman’s fate arose over the weekend when Abby Coleman notified Santa Barbara police that her husband and two children were missing.

Mexican officials said they had video footage of Coleman and the children checking into a hotel in Rosarito on Saturday.

The pictures show the three people walking in the early hours of Monday morning before Coleman just returned that morning to see how he was doing.

While Coleman appeared in the pictures, a farm worker discovered the mutilated bodies of the two babies.

United Stated Customs and Border Protection officials waited for Coleman when he tried to re-enter the country at the San Ysidro checkpoint Tuesday, and he is now in federal custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Why He Was Arrested?

Coleman, resident of Santa Barbara, was arrested at the San Ysidro checkpoint by US customs and border protection officials as he entered the United States from Mexico and remained in federal custody , announced the Mexican authorities.

The arrest came after the bodies of two children, a three-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy, were found Monday morning by a farm worker at a ranch near Rosarito, Baja California, the attorney general said.

Santa Barbara police said Coleman’s wife reported him missing and said she was concerned for his well-being.

Coleman could face a Mexican murder charge.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had a lawyer to speak for him.
