Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of Phase II of the Honhar Scholarship Programme. This initiative will help 30,000 students annually for the next four years so that they can cover their educational expenses and pursue their higher education without financial difficulties.

During a ceremony at FAST National University of Computer and Engineering Sciences in Islamabad, the Chief Minister expressed her dedication to spread the education to worthy students. She stated that the scholarships are fully funded by the Punjab government so that students from all backgrounds can easily study at top institutions.

Who Can Apply?
The scholarships will help all the deserving students across Punjab. You must meet these three requirements:
- Be under the age of 22
- Hold a Punjab domicile
- Have parents earning less than Rs. 300,000 per month
The program spans 68 fields of study and supports students from 359 colleges and universities across the province.
How Are Students Selected?
The selection process is completely transparent and merit-based. Applications are submitted through an online portal and reviewed through a multi-step process:
- Institutional Committees: Conduct initial reviews.
- Provincial Committee: Manages overall selection.
- Steering Committee: Led by Senior Provincial Minister Mariyam Aurangzeb to ensure fairness.

The Honhar Scholarship Programme has already made a difference in the lives of many students. Here’s a snapshot of its achievements:
- University of Punjab: 2,473 scholarships awarded
- FAST University, Islamabad: 2,570 scholarships awarded to students from Rawalpindi division
- UET Lahore: 1,886 scholarships awarded
