Maryam Nawaz Laptop Scheme 2025: What Students Need to Know

A few months back, the Punjab government announced a new initiative to provide free laptops to top-performing students under the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025. With distribution around the corner, students are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the latest devices.

What’s Included in the Program?

This initiative will provide 50,000 laptops to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance. Every year, 2,000 laptops will be distributed, and those with intermediate and higher qualifications are among the eligible recipients.

New Laptop Devices for Students

The program will disburse 13th-generation Core i7 laptops to support students in research and learning. Alongside high achievers in secondary and higher secondary school examinations, students from minority backgrounds will also receive these devices.

Who Gets How Many?

The government of Punjab has outlined the distribution plan as follows:

  • 20,000 laptops for university students
  • 14,000 laptops for college students
  • 4,000 laptops for students in technical and agricultural colleges
  • 2,000 laptops for those in medical and dental colleges

Regional Allocation

Students from South Punjab will receive 32% of the total laptops.

Eligible Fields of Study

The program covers students pursuing degrees in:

  • Computer Science
  • Medicine
  • Engineering
  • Science
  • Social Sciences
  • Business
  • Languages
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Agriculture

How Are Students Selected?

Students won’t need to apply online for Punjab’s laptop scheme. Educational institutions will compile and submit eligible candidates’ data to HEC Punjab for final selection.

The eligibility criteria for Maryam Nawaz laptop scheme, finalized in a meeting led by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, require BS students to have at least 65 percent in intermediate exams, while medical students need 80 percent.

Officials were directed to speed up the process, finalize web portal launch dates, and complete the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.

This initiative will expand digital access and support students in higher education.

When Will Laptops Be Distributed?

  • Registration begins in February 2025
  • Distribution is expected to start after Ramadan, most likely in April or May 2025

Earlier this month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz confirmed the arrival of the first phase of laptops distribution in Pakistan. Distribution ceremonies will take place at multiple locations under the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
