Mark Glaze, an activist credited with founding the modern gun control movement, committed suicide in prison for DUI.
He died last month in Lackawanna County Jail, Pennsylvania, and Glaze’s death was reported in a New York Times article published Sunday.

Glaze was held in the Lackawanna County Jail after he was arrested on September 9 for escaping from a car accident in Dunmore, Pennsylvania.
Police charged him with drunk driving, fatality or assault, abandoning a vehicle on the road, and reckless driving.
Glaze completed his law degree and joined the Mayors Against Guns campaign group as a consultant in 2011, where he worked with luminaries such as Michael Bloomberg.
His campaign escalated after the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre, in which 20 children and six adults were shot dead in a Connecticut elementary school. The gun safety advocate was gay and was inspired by the Supreme Court’s struggle to lift the ban on same-sex marriage during its gun protection efforts.

As CEO of Everytown for Gun Safety, he joined the National Rifle Association and helped make gun violence a successful problem.
Mark Glaze, widely regarded as the founder of the modern gun control movement, died on 31st October in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was 51 years old.
Erika Soto Lamb, a friend and former colleague of the Everytown for Gun Safety organization, whose former CEO was Glaze, said her death was suicide. Glaze had been in prison in September after being arrested for drunk driving.
