It’s a sad day in the industry. Actress Mandira Bedi lost her husband Raj Kaushal at the age of 49 this morning (June 30) after the filmmaker suffered a heart attack. He was allegedly abused in his home.
The news is shocking as it wasn’t until Sunday, June 27 that photos of Raj and Mandira partying with their friends in the industry surfaced on social media.
Although the family has not yet released an official statement, filmmaker Onir has confirmed the news of Raj’s sudden death. Actor Rohit Bose Roy also took to social media and expressed his condolences.

Mandira and Raj’s close friend, actor Ashish Chaudhary, was reportedly photographed in his apartment this morning.
Filmmaker Onir announced the news of Raj Kaushal’s death on social media. He tweeted: “He left too early. This morning we lost filmmaker and producer @ rajkaushal1. Very sad. He was one of the producers of my first movie #MyBrotherNikhil. One of the few who believed in our vision and supported us. Prayers for his soul.”
Commenting on his tweet, actor Jackie Shroff said: “(Hands up) RIP Bhidu.”
Recalling Raj Kaushal, Rohit Bose Roy tweeted: “One of my oldest and closest friends is coming and I can’t even attend the funeral… I can’t pay my respects in person… and people think acting is comfortable and fun! Sometimes it’s the most tireless work in the world… @ rajkaushal1 RIP (hands folded)”
Actress Tisca Chopra also tweeted: “Can’t believe #RajKaushal is no longer with us… so shocking. My thoughts are with @mandybedi and his two adorable sons. #RIP our happy and smiling Raj… your heathen soul will be missed”.
Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal were madly in love and married on February 14, 1999. They are parents of two children, a girl, and a boy.

In 2011, they welcomed their biological son Vir. Last year, Mandira and Raj welcomed their 4-year-old daughter Tara, whom they adopted.
