Attorney Alex Murdaugh Wife Shot Dead
Hampton attorney Alex Murdaugh, whose wife and youngest son was shot dead in June, was shot dead on a country road in Hampton County on Saturday afternoon.
On 7th June, Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie, and son Paul were shot dead in their Colleton County estate.
Murdaugh’s father, grandfather, and great-grandfather ran the 14th District Attorney’s office for nearly a century.
University of South Carolina student Paul Murdaugh, 22, was shot in the head and chest with a shotgun.
At the same time, her 52-year-old mother was killed with what appeared to be an assault rifle, sources familiar with the investigation said, adding that grenades were recovered from the scene. Their bodies were found separately from each other.
His death sparked national interest and speculation in South Carolina, particularly in law enforcement and law enforcement communities, where Alex Murdaugh, his law firm, and his family are well known.
Almost three months later, SLED still has not made an arrest or revealed a suspect or motive.
Why Alex’s Wife Maggie Murdaugh And Family Ordered Forensic Accounting?
Journalist Matt Harris, host of the WLNK morning show and host of the “The Murdaugh Family Killings: The Impact of Influence” podcast, made the surprise announcement of “Crime Stories with Nancy Grace.”
“That’s the word I got from a pretty reliable source,” Harris said.
“Maggie has hired a forensic accountant.”
The full Crime Stories with Nancy Grace show will be available on all podcast apps today and air on Fox Nation and Sirius XM Triumph tonight.
Grace and Harris both noted that “a lot has happened” in the months leading up to the murders of Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and her son Paul, 22.
Paul Murdaugh was awaiting trial for crashing a boat while driving while intoxicated.
The accident threw 19-year-old Mallory Beach into the water and killed her. At least one lawsuit for unlawful death had been filed in connection with the accident.
Harris said the family had worked hard “to protect their assets” before Paul and Maggie were found gunned down on one of the family’s properties on June 7.
Alex Murdaugh was kicked out of the PMPED law firm founded by his great-grandfather on Friday after a forensic investigation found millions of dollars in funds were allegedly embezzled, CrimeOnline previously reported.
The next day, while driving the winding road from his Hampton County home to Charleston, Murdaugh called 911 to say he had been shot in the head.

South Carolina law enforcement is investigating both Saturday’s shooting and the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh.
Last month Duffie Stone, the 14th district attorney who was Murdaugh for over 80 years before being elected in 2006, announced his withdrawal from the investigation based on new information that could create a conflict of interest. He refused to expand on it.
