Madison Schmitz stabbed her ex-girlfriend Madison Schmitz and then slit her throat
The psychotic ex-boyfriend of a prominent Florida high school baseball player brutally stabbed his girlfriend before attempting a desperate suicide, police say.
The gruesome broad daylight attack on posh Ponte Vedra Beach near Jacksonville only stopped after a brave Good Samaritan saw the angry attack and intervened, police said.
Madison Schemitz, a senior at Ponte Vedra High School, spotted Spencer Pearson, a graduate student, and former football player, having dinner with her mother, Jackie Roge, and friend Casey Estep at a restaurant on Saturday.
Estep told local reporters that Schemitz recently broke up with the 18-year-old and has since threatened her with violence.
Pearson’s threatening promises infuriated him so much that Schemitz’s mother was about to seek a restraining order against him to ensure her daughter’s safety.
“They said, ‘Oh, we have to go.'” Estep told First Coast News of her shocked reaction to Pearson’s sudden appearance.
The group quickly paid their bill and attempted to head to their vehicle, but Pearson intercepted them and began stabbing Schemitz and his mother.
Bystander Kennedy Armstrong, 23, was sitting in a car parked nearby when he suddenly heard piercing screams.
He turned to the noise and saw Pearson stab Schemitz repeatedly as he straddled her on the ground.
Armstrong immediately ran towards Pearson and pushed him off the screaming and bloodied victim.
He has already undergone multiple surgeries and remains in critical condition.
Two GoFundMe accounts have already raised over $80,000 to help Schemetz and his family with incoming medical bills and other expenses.
“She is the sister of five brothers and will have a long way to go as she is in critical condition at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital,” reads one of Schemitz’ reports.
