Lori And Chad Daybell Case Update 2021
In December 2019, the world learned of the disappearance of two children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow and his sister Tylee Ryan.
Investigators have since found the children’s remains. Her mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, were arrested and charged.
- An audio recording will appear in January between District Attorney Rob Wood and Lori’s sister, Summer Shiflet. Wood tells Summer that he is planning an assassination conspiracy against the Daybells.
- On 4th February the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office announced that Tammy Daybell’s autopsy was complete, but no details were provided.
- On the same day, newly elected Fremont County District Attorney Lindsey Blake requested that the Idaho Attorney General refer the investigation into Tammy Daybell’s death to her office. The AG transfers the case.
- On 22nd March Madison County District Attorney Rob Wood recruited veteran Missouri attorney Rachel Smith to help in the case against Chad Daybell.
- On 24th May a grand jury indicted Chad and Lori Daybell on several new counts of murder, including first-degree murder and conspiracy to murder. Prosecutors announced the charges at a press conference on 25th May and released the indictment with additional information about the murders of Tylee Ryan, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and Tammy Daybell.
- On 8th June Lori Vallow Daybell is working with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. A psychologist deemed her unfit to stand trial and a judge agreed that she could not help defend her. It can be used up to 90 days before judicial review.
- Chad Daybell pleads not guilty to all items presented by the grand jury on June 9. His family and the families of the victims were sitting in the courtroom.
- Lori Vallow Daybell was indicted by an Arizona grand jury on Thursday, 24th June with conspiracy to murder her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. Prosecutors refused to press charges against Chad Daybell, saying there was “no reasonable chance of conviction.”
- On 29th July prosecutors dropped charges of destruction, tampering, or withholding of evidence against Chad and Lori Daybell. the highest possible penalty.
- Lori is still incapacitated on August 30 and more expert hearings are planned. In September, prosecutors asked whether Lori should be forced to take medication as suggested by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
- In an interview with CBS’s “48 Hours,” Chad Daybell’s children say his father was cheated on. They also say that his mother died of suffocation. Authorities have not released the cause of her death, but multiple sources familiar with the investigation told EastIdahoNews.com that she died of suffocation.
- After a court hearing on 5th October District Judge Steven Boyce decides that Daybell’s trial will move from Fremont County to Ada County. The Idaho Supreme Court authorizes her transfer to the most populous district in Idaho.
- On 7th October the Chandler, Arizona police turned over all of their files for the investigation of Charles’s murder. Includes gigabytes of unprecedented video interviews, audio recordings, SMS, and police reports.
