Her Professional Career
Brown’s first notable role was in Guiding Light, where she played Nola Rearden Chamberlain from 1980 to 1985, and then from 1995 to 1998 (appearing in the show’s final weeks in 2009). She and actor Michael Tylo, who played Quint, were a famous couple on the show.
Brown also created another notable soap opera character in the form of Eva Snyder in As the World Turns, who played her with numerous appearances from 6th November 1985 to 1994 and from 1998 to 2003.
Both characters were created by writer Douglas Maryland and were sort of ‘muses’ of Brown Maryland’s writing.
After completing her acting role on both shows, she served as an interim coach for Guiding Light and One Life to Live.
Brown appeared in the title role of the Broadway version of 42nd Street in the early 1980s and also played a role in Guiding Light. The second day on the job in 1995 included a brief stint with Long as a corrupt FBI agent.

Brown married actor Tom Nelson from 1982 to 1985, who once played boyfriend Floyd Parker in Guiding Light. In 1997, she married Brian Neri. Her son James Anthony Nelson played his youngest son in Guiding Light and is now the lead singer of Sensei Fell. Brown helped create and direct his videos.
