Kelly Bates is a former WJAR-10 meteorologist in Rhode Island who recorded a TikTok video announcing she was leaving the station, sparking a petition campaign from angry viewers asking them to get back on the air.
Bates announced on her Twitter page that she was “no longer employed” at NBC10 and said “my career is over today” in a TikTok video that you can watch later in this article.
WJAR-10 is an NBC subsidiary based in Providence, Rhode Island.

Her TikTok video moved, tears filling Bates’ eyes. She said she broadcast New England weather on the same station for 17 years.
“Today … today was an exciting day,” She says.

Her bio page on the WJAR-10 website has now been deleted. She said, “Kelly Bates joined Storm Team 10 in August 2004 to provide weather forecasting for NBC 10 News,” noting that she was nominated for an Emmy in 2004 and 2005.
