The Red Line BRT project in Karachi that will moderne the city’s transport system, has faced delays. Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon clarified that the government is not responsible for setbacks, attributing them to negligence during the caretaker government’s tenure and misinterpretations of prior cabinet decisions.
Important challenges include relocating utilities like the 96-inch K-4 water pipeline and addressing concerns from showroom owners near Jamsheed Chowrangi. While the government has pledged funds to resolve these issues, the World Bank-approved design remains unchanged. Construction teams are now working in three shifts to accelerate progress.

He welcomed international audits to ensure transparency and emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering an efficient mass transit system. The Red Line BRT is expected to significantly enhance Karachi’s public transport infrastructure.
