Kamran Tessori Appointed New Governor Of Sindh
On Sunday, President Arif Alvi gave his approval for the appointment of MQM-P’s Kamran Khan Tessori as the new Governor of Sindh.
Before Shehbaz Sharif became prime minister in April, Imran Ismail resigned, leaving the post vacant.
By Article 101, paragraph 1, of the Constitution, the President approved it.
The experienced politician Dr. Farooq Sattar was expelled from the MQM-P last month when former Coordinating Committee head Tessori, previously accused of inciting a split within the party, joined the organization.
Tessori, a former PML-F executive and gold trader, joined MQM in 2017 and quickly rose to fame. He left the party in December of the same year, citing management problems.
Following founder Altaf Hussain’s explosive speech on August 22, 2016, the party, which previously split into MQM-Pakistan and MQM-London, later split into MQM-Bahadurabad and MQM-PIB over the issue of allocating a match ticket to a businessman. – Politician Kamran Tessori, who was then deputy organizer and favorite of Dr. Sattar was a candidate for the Senate elections in March 2018.
Dr. Sattar broke away from the Bahadurabad faction after the conflict and formed the MQM-PIB.
With Tessori, three of the four MQM-P nominees for Senate seats finished last. The two factions later merged and competed on a single platform in the July 2018 general election.
However, only four of the 21 seats in Karachi’s National Assembly were won by the party. In the months that followed, disagreements over Tessori again led to the dismissal of Dr. Sattar of MQM Bahadurabad.
In the past four years, there have been numerous attempts to convince Dr. Sattar, who has headed the MQM Organizational Restoration Committee since late 2018, to MQM-P. However, he insisted that Tessori use the same title he had before leaving the match.
Recently everything seemed to be going well for Dr. Sattar to be willing to join MQM, but at the last moment, he claimed that MQM-P management was not telling the truth.
Dr. Sattar ran as an independent candidate for the NA-245 by-election last month but lost.
According to some sources, this was a typical example of how certain groups can influence political parties.
