Jermaine Sprewer’s body was found on the shore near the Shawnee boat ramp on Saturday.
Sprewer is believed to be the man who was kidnapped and held for ransom earlier this week.
The Louisville Metropolitan Police was notified shortly before 5 p.m. of the corpse, according to a spokesman for the LMPD.

His current age was 25 years.
What Was The Incident?
Until early Sunday morning, Louisville Metropolitan Police investigators could not confirm with absolute certainty that the corpse was Sprewer, 25, the TV station reported.
However, LMPD spokeswoman Beth Ruoff told Kurier-Journal that police believe the body is Sprewer, who was allegedly abducted earlier this week, based on information gathered from the family and on the square.
The kidnapping may partly explain why investigators suspect the death was a dirty act.
On Saturday, teams recovered Sprewer’s body from the Ohio River and an autopsy was scheduled for Sunday, WDRB-TV reports.
Jermaine Sprewer went missing earlier this week after he was last seen Tuesday on Crockett Drive in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood of southwest Louisville, CrimeOnline previously reported.
The man’s family later received calls asking for money. “The family received several FaceTime calls from the attackers where they saw Jermaine handcuffed with various weapons pointed at him,” LMPD Sgt. Matthew Kennington told WLKY-TV.
“During the calls, a large sum of money was requested in exchange for his safe return.”
Since these calls, however, the family has not heard from the alleged perpetrators, Kennington told the Kurier-Journal.
The police did not publicly disclose how much money the kidnappers asked or whether the family paid any money.

What Police Have Investigated Up Till Now?
The LMPD launched a request for help from the community on Thursday, September 9th, in order to locate Jermaine Sprewer after no one had seen him since Tuesday.
Jermaine Sprewer’s car was found on Friday, 10th September, according to LMPD. They didn’t say where or how they found it.
The LMPD homicide squad is investigating.
