There’s no doubt that Rachel Green is a style icon – she was arguably the best-dressed of all the actors on Friends. After all, she worked at Ralph Lauren for much of the show so she really had no excuse for letting up in fashion.
But in the end, on the set in Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room, something extra was thought of … and it’s all about comfort. While it’s hard to deny that Rachel (along with Monica and sometimes even Phoebe) wore lots of short side dresses and skirts and nude tops, as Aniston Howard Stern said on her show this week. Sirius XM, it wasn’t about the sexual appeal of the show.

As per the Aniston herself, she and her comrades on set wore what they thought was comfortable.
“Nobody said, Girls, your outfits have to be tighter, smaller, and lighter.’ No way,” Aniston said on page six of Stern’s Sirius XM radio show. “It was just what we felt comfortable in.”
And to be honest, that was in the 90s – the clothes they wore were all the rage back then (and they’re making a comeback too)…
Lisa Kudrow also spoke about Phoebe’s choice of clothes. Because she wore more fluid clothes and was of a different physique than Aniston and Courteney Cox, she said that “it wasn’t fun to customize her costumes”.
“It’s not that I felt bad around her,” she said of her fitting alongside Aniston and Cox.
“I have a different body type. I’m just taller and sometimes when I saw the show the clothes were so full of volume.”
However, all three have always looked good and served as key style inspiration that has managed to stay relevant even now, more than 15 years after the Friends series finale aired.
And frankly, we should all embrace the comfort element of the Aniston on-screen wardrobe. What you feel good about is what you should wear!
