James Howard Jackson shot and wounded Lady Gaga’s dog walkers when he stole her French bulldogs last year, scored a plea deal, and was sentenced to 21 years in prison on Monday, authorities said.
The connection to Lady Gaga was accidental, authorities said. The motive was the value of French bulldogs, a breed that can fetch thousands of dollars, and detectives don’t believe the thieves knew the dogs belonged to the musician.

Shot Lady Gaga’s Dogwalker
Dog walker Ryan Fischer was walking Lady Gaga’s three French bulldogs on 24th February 2021 when he was attacked and shot. The attackers fled and stole two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav.
According to a criminal complaint, Jackson was one of three men driving through Los Angeles in February 2021 in search of bulldogs when they encountered fishermen with Lady Gaga’s dogs.
The ad says two men jumped out of the car and began choking and beating Fischer, who was struggling with the attackers. One of the men shot the dog walker and the trio fled with the two dogs.
Fischer was seriously injured but survived the attack, CNN reported. The missing dogs were brought back after the star offered them a $500,000 reward.

“The agreement holds Mr. Jackson responsible for committing a violent and insensitive act and does justice to our victim,” prosecutors said. Jackson was accidentally released in April due to a “scribal error,” but was found and taken back into custody in August.
Jackson is one of five people charged with the assault, including two who were subsequently charged as accomplices.
Harold White, one of the accused in the attack, also did not deny charges of possession of a firearm by a former inmate, prosecutors said. He will be sentenced next year. CNN has reached out to Jackson and White’s attorneys for comment.
Jaylin White, 20, was sentenced to four years in prison earlier this year after pleading not guilty to a second-degree robbery charge and admitting allegations that a member of the group was armed during the incident.
