Jacinto Romero Flores was a radio journalist who, as per his host and state authorities, was shot dead on Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico state of Veracruz.
Flores was shot dead in the municipality of Potrerillo in the municipality of Ixtaczoquitlán, Hugo Gutiérrez Maldonado, head of the Veracruz State Security Agency, announced via Twitter.
Gutiérrez said state police carried out an operation in the area after the murder.

The radio journalist was shot and killed in the state of Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico coast.
Article 19, freedom of the press, states that Jacinto Romero Flores has been threatened.
He was shot and killed in the town of Potrerillo on Thursday morning.
Police said he had an operation in the area after the murder. Romero worked for Ori Stereo 99.3 FM.
The State Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists condemned the murder and asked prosecutors to open a full investigation, including the possible role of Romero’s journalism in his murder.

“The media are neither the cause nor the effect of violence in the country, but we suffer the consequences for journalism and communication,” he said in a statement.

What Police Have Investigated Up Till Now?
As per the article 19 of the Organization for Freedom of the Press, Romero had received several threats.
The United States-based Committee to Protect Journalists said via Twitter that “it learned of the murder of journalist Jacinto Romero in the state of Veracruz and strongly condemned him, and urged the authorities to initiate a swift, transparent and exhaustive about the murder”.
