Iraq Stops Paying Visa Fees For Pakistanis
As reported by Samaa News, Pakistani Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah recently visited Iraq for four days at the special invitation of his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Amir Al-Sabri.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties between the two countries and promote cooperation on various fronts.
During the trip, Minister Rana met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani to explore opportunities for cooperation.
The two leaders agreed to work together on defense and counter-terrorism efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to addressing common challenges.
A notable development during the visit was the Iraqi Prime Minister’s decision to waive visa fees for Pakistani pilgrims. This means that Pakistanis traveling to Iraq for religious reasons no longer have to pay visa fees.
The talks yielded another positive result for Pakistani investors. Within a week they will be given an electronic visa (e-visa) opportunity to invest and do business in Iraq.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also expressed his strong will to expedite the release of Pakistani prisoners in Iraq for petty crimes.
During the visit, Minister Rana also thanked the Iraqi Interior Minister for supporting the Pakistani pilgrims.
As a result of this gathering, the quota of Pakistani pilgrims at the Arbaeen religious event will be increased to 100,000.
In addition to the existing group visas, individual visas will now also be available, allowing pilgrims to travel more flexibly.
