The chairperson of the BISP, Rubina Khalid, has announced an increase in quarterly payments under the Benazir Kafaalat Programme. The payments will now rise by Rs3,000, bringing the total to Rs13,500 per quarter, compared to the previous Rs10,500.
Introduction of Benazir Kafaalat Program
Introduced in 2008, the Benazir Kafaalat Program is Pakistan’s largest cash transfer initiative. It was created to provide financial support to vulnerable households, addressing both immediate challenges and long-term development goals.
The program helps protect low-income families from the impacts of rising inflation, increasing food prices, and slow economic growth. Over time, it aims to reduce extreme poverty and empower women, aligning with Pakistan’s efforts to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
BISP Kafaalat Quarterly Payment Increased
Currently, more than 9.3 million families are receiving support through the BISP Kafaalat Program, with a target to extend this assistance to 10 million families by next year. Starting January 2025, all registered families will receive Rs13,500 quarterly, a step aimed at easing the financial burden caused by inflation.
Payment Withdrawal Banks
Families eligible for the program can withdraw their payments from Bank Al Falah, Bank of Punjab, Mobilink Microfinance (JazzCash), Telenor Microfinance Bank, Habib Bank Limited, and HBL Microfinance.
