Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja is poised to realize his dream of playing for Pakistan when he was selected as a “substitute” by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United.
Khawaja is looking forward to playing in Pakistan. The cricketer is accompanied by fellow Australians James Faulkner, Callum Ferguson, and Joe Burns, all chosen by the Lahore Qalandars.
The team he joins represents the city where he was born. At the age of five, Khawaja’s family moved from Islamabad to Australia.
Pretty excited to be joining @isbunited. I have played everywhere in the sub continent except where I was actually born. So for me this means a little bit more. Can’t wait. #UnitedWeWin

Khawaja said that unfortunately he never had a chance to play for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to national cricket. “This could be a little blessing to play there. I would love to go there and play,” the cricketer told Cricket.com.au.
“I’ve played in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, but I’ve never played in Pakistan where I was born and it’s something I would love to do, come home where it all started for me and my family “he added.
“I would also like to go home where my family and I started. I feel good that cricket is returning to Pakistan,” he said.

Speaking of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Khuwaja said: “If PSL had as much money as IPL, there is no doubt that all international players would go there,” he said.
The International Cricket Council’s Future Touring Program (FTP) calls for a series of visitors to Australia against Pakistan in February and March 2022, which includes two events, three ODI, and three T20I.
