Pakistan’s economy is at rock bottom. With the value of our currency in tatters and exorbitant taxes, importing a smartphone is prohibitively expensive.

Retail prices are out of control and paying for PTA approvals ups the ante even more, with mid-range phones costing over Rs 100,000 and flagships over Rs 300,000 and up.

However, a more recent development should make things more accessible to the general public.

Bank Alfalah’s online marketplace Alfa Mall now offers installment payments based on PTA approvals, but only for certain smartphones. These phones include the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Ultra, iPhone 13, and the entire iPhone 14 series.

The total PTA fees for these phones range from Rs 130,000 to Rs 190,000 but can be paid in 3-6 months with a 0% premium. All you have to do is choose an installment plan, enter your CNIC ID card number and your phone’s IMEI code, and you’re all set.

Please note that the PTA approval process can take 3-5 business days. The merchant will also notify you of their approval via a confirmation call.
