A video showing a Montana man confronting Tucker Carlson was posted on social media after the man called the Fox News host “the worst person is known to mankind.”
The video, released Friday, shows Dan Bailey speaking closely to Carlson at a fly fishing shop in Montana. In the video, Carlson can be heard saying “thank you” and “I will not argue”.
In a social media post with the video, Bailey accused Carlson of spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and promoting extreme racism.
A Fox News spokesperson said in a statement that Bailey attacked the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” while he was with his family at the Livingston store and called him ‘inexcusable’.
“No public figure, whatever their convictions or political convictions, should be approached simply because of intolerance from another point of view,” the statement said.
On his show, Carlson repeatedly questioned the COVID-19 vaccine, although other Fox News presenters recently encouraged viewers to get the shot.
Carlson had previously refused to answer when asked if he was vaccinated. Last week he said: “We are not saying the vaccine is unnecessary. … We do not encourage anyone to be vaccinated or not. We’re not doctors, of course.”
The fly fishing shop where the confrontation took place said the workers “treat all customers equally and with respect”.
“Our employees have been professional and friendly to Mr. Carlson, as we are to all of our customers,” Dan Baileys Outdoor Company said on his Facebook page.
Although they share a common name, the man who posted the video, which has been viewed a million times, “has no connection with our business other than the same name as our founder, who died in 1982”, the store said.
