Govt Issued Heatwave Advisory for Punjab Schools (Public & Private Both)

The heatwave across Punjab is growing more severe. The School Education Department (SED) has released an advisory for all public and private schools. The objective is to safeguard both staff and students during extremely hot conditions.

Urgent Heat Advisory for Punjab Schools 🌞

School officials must act fast. Each classroom must offer clean, chilled drinking water throughout the day, encouraging kids to stay well-hydrated by consuming eight to ten glasses of water daily.

Rooms need proper airflow. Fans or air coolers should be in operation to circulate the air. Students are advised to remain indoors during peak temperature periods and avoid outdoor activities when temperatures soar.

School teams must be aware of the dangers of heatstroke. Every institution should have first aid kits ready and team members trained to manage heat-related emergencies. These measures are in place to protect the well-being of students during the current weather challenge. Strict adherence to these instructions is required across Punjab’s educational institutions.

Karachi Exam Situation 🎓

A concerning situation has emerged in Karachi as the academic schedule for thousands of students faces uncertainty. The Sindh government has been slow in making decisions that would secure the academic calendar.

The Intermediate Part I and II annual exams are scheduled to begin on April 28th. Nearly 100,000 students registered with the Karachi Intermediate Board will be affected by the delays. With only 13 days remaining before the exams, administrative actions, such as finalizing the chairman and releasing the exam schedule along with the center lists, are still pending.

In addition, members from the provincial assembly had suggested granting Karachi Intermediate Part I students up to 20% grace marks in mathematics, chemistry, and physics. This proposal came from a team led by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah and involved several political representatives. The recommendation was based on research conducted by a commission headed by Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, former vice-chancellor of NED University.
