Google Search Can Now Shorten Articles For You
Google recently introduced a new tool in the “Search Labs” section of its Google Search app, accessible on the Android and iOS platforms.
This new tool, which works independently of the Google Bard AI chatbot, is an important aspect of the generative search experience (SGE). The aim is in particular to improve the search results and the availability will soon be extended to the Chrome browser.
The launch revolves around Google’s innovation of an AI-powered search tool, separate from the Bard chatbot. The main objective of this tool, which is integrated with the Search Generative Experience (SGE), focuses on the effective synthesis of large articles in key points.
This functionality is especially valuable for people who are new to a particular field. However, Google clarified that this feature would not extend to items hidden behind paywalls.
Additionally, the key points of an article contain hyperlinks that take users directly to the specific sections from which the generative tool extracted information. This serves the dual purpose of allowing users to fact-check and get additional details on the topic.
Additionally, the tool offers the ability to help users answer specific questions by extracting the answers directly from the article.
This new feature in Research Labs is currently available in English only and is limited to a select user group in the United States. Unfortunately, Google hasn’t given a concrete timeline for its global expansion yet.
