Germany Started Master’s Scholarships in Public Policy And Good Governance
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers graduates from developing countries an invaluable opportunity to earn a master’s degree from German universities.
It is offered as part of the DAAD Helmut Schmidt program “Master’s Scholarships for Public Order and Good Governance” and focuses on disciplines that are of particular importance for the social, political, and economic progress of their respective countries of origin.
According to the details of the program, a DAAD scholarship holder receives several benefits under the Helmut Schmidt program, including:
- Waiver of tuition fees.
- The monthly stipend rate is currently €934 (Rs. 285,446).
- Contributions to health insurance in Germany.
- Traveling expenses.
- Study and research grant.
- Where applicable, rent allowances and/or allowances for spouses and/or children.
- In addition, participation in a mandatory 6-month German course to improve your language skills is mandatory for all scholarship holders.
Eligibility Criteria For DAAD Scholarship

- Show a strong commitment to actively contribute to the social, political, and economic development of their country or region of origin.

- The required language skills and language certificates vary depending on the desired master’s degree.
- Each course has its own selection criteria, including university degrees, grades, language skills, and professional experience. These criteria must be met in addition to the DAAD selection criteria.
Instructions For Online Application
Follow these steps to submit your application for the DAAD Helmut Schmidt program:
- Applications are possible from 1st June 2023.
- From the list of participating courses, select the master’s course you would like to enroll in.
- Apply directly to the respective universities that offer the Master’s degree programs you have selected. Do not send your application to the DAAD. Indicate that you are applying for the DAAD’s Helmut Schmidt program (Master’s scholarship in Public Policy and Good Governance). The application period at the eight universities is from June 1 to July 31, 2023.
