Former PM Imran Khan Receives 1 Million TikTok Followers Within 1 Day
Pakistani President and former Prime Minister Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has teamed up with the popular short video-sharing app TikTok to engage even more with the public.
Khan faced multiple trials after being overthrown by a no-confidence vote last year. However, the noose tightened around him and his party leaders after the May 9 incident, when his supporters attacked military installations. Since then, several PTI leaders have split from the party.
To keep the public interested, the former prime minister joined TikTok and received an overwhelming response as the number of followers surpassed 1 Million in one day.
@imrankhan.ptiThank you to all of you on TikTok for the grand welcome. I want you all to verify your vote by sending your CNIC at 8300 via sms today. July 20th is the deadline. These upcoming elections are going to be decisive for our country!
He shared a video with clips of his public rallies and speeches.
“Our social media team shows me great TikTok clips made by young people, even from rural areas. I have decided to join this platform to connect with you all,” he wrote in the caption.
On Twitter, PTI wrote that Imran Khan’s TikTok account reached 100,000 followers within the first three hours of joining the platform.
