Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts, the company behind the first casino in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has chosen ALEC Engineering and Contracting as the main contractor for the development work on Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah.
This announcement was made jointly by Marjan Island, RAK Hospitality, and Wynn Resorts on Wednesday. ALEC, a subsidiary of Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), will manage the construction of the casino project, while Bauer International will handle the pile driving and clearing operations.
The Wynn-Marjan project, set to begin in 2026, will feature an 18,500-square-foot casino, according to Wynn Resorts CEO Craig Billings. The emirate is currently creating gambling regulations for the casino based on Singapore and US standards.

Arabian Business reports that Wynn Resorts has registered trademarks named “Arabian Strip” and “Marjan Strip.”

The world’s tallest hotel, Ciel, is set to open in the first quarter of 2024 in Dubai, known for its skyscrapers and luxurious accommodations. The developer, The First Group, has announced that the 82-story building will be its most ambitious project to date.
Rob Burns, CEO of The First Group, expressed his enthusiasm for adding this skyscraper to the Dubai skyline. He noted that despite the pandemic, construction is progressing swiftly, and the tower will be ready in 2024.
