Federal Govt is Surprisingly Extending The Eid-ul-Adha Holidays

The federal government has decided to extend the Eid-ul-Adha holiday after drawing public criticism for announcing a short pause for Eid celebrations.

Due to the latest developments, the government has granted an extra day off on Wednesday 28 June, bringing Eid-ul-Adha to a five-day break, including weekends.

In the previous notice, the government granted a two-day break on June 29 and 30 (Thursday and Friday) for those working five days a week. On the other hand, those who worked six days a week had three days off (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) from June 29 to July 1.

However, according to the most recent announcement, the holidays now start on June 28th and end on July 2nd, including weekends. This is the official announcement:

Earlier on Monday, the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee, the authority responsible for moon sightings, confirmed moon sightings for the Islamic month of Zil Hajj. Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated in Pakistan on Thursday, June 29th.

The committee, led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, met in Karachi to observe the crescent moon Zil Hajj after sunset.
