Facebook Plans To Release First Smartwatch Next Summer With Dual Cameras And Heart Monitor.
As per the unknown sources, The Verge reported that Facebook plans to launch its own smartwatch next year, mostly as a standalone alternative to rivals Apple and Google.
The smartwatch has a screen with two detachable wrist cameras for taking photos and videos. Videos can be shared through Facebook’s suite of apps, including Instagram.

The watch’s front camera will be mainly used for video calls, and the rear camera will be a 1080p autofocus camera that can be used to take pictures when removed from the stainless steel frame on your wrist.
The watch will be available in three colors white, black, and gold. Facebook is initially expecting sales in the six-digit range.
“It is part of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg‘s plan to develop more consumer devices that Apple and Google, the two main developers of mobile phone platforms, largely control Facebook’s ability to reach people,” reported The Verge.
The device will be Facebook’s first step in releasing hardware specifically for the wrist. It will open up another field of competition with Apple at a time when the two tech giants are already at odds. Apple has always positioned itself as the protector of user privacy by restricting the types of data apps like Facebook can collect.
On the other hand, Facebook has been plagued by scandals over the processing of its users’ data for years. If Facebook launches smartwatches, that dynamic could lead to an uphill battle for Facebook to convince people to buy its product. Especially on the front that it will also serve as a fitness device with a heart rate monitor.
Facebook is expected to release the first version of its smartwatch in the summer of 2022 and has already started working on the second and third generations for the years to come.
The price is around $400 but it can vary. While this is very unlikely, Facebook could abandon the entire project as the smartwatch’s name has not been officially set and mass production has not started.
