Facebook Messenger Introduces New AR Effects For Video Calling
Facebook’s Messenger messaging app adds augmented reality (AR) experiences to your video conferences.
The group effects feature has been implemented to bring boring video conferences to life. Users can easily place any filter of their choice from a group of 70 group effects.
To apply group effects, ask a member to start a video call, then tap the smiley face to apply group filters from a list of 70 effects. Just like you select an effect, it applies to all members of the video chat room.

“Group effects are a more engaging and interactive way to connect with your friends. They also support the creative community and give people more opportunities to express themselves,” the company wrote in a blog post.
AR became part of the Messenger toolkit as Facebook began to invest most of its ‘metaverse’ in outreach while continuing to answer questions about the ongoing controversy surrounding Frances Haugen.
