Facebook has reportedly confirmed a total ban on “Taliban-related content” on all platforms and apps in its ecosystem.
The social media giant has also hired a team of prominent Afghan experts to monitor and remove content related to the group that it considers a terrorist organization.
A Facebook employee told the BBC:
The Taliban are sanctioned as a terrorist organization under US law and we have banned them from our services under our Dangerous Organizations Policy. This means that we are eliminating accounts managed by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibiting their praise, support and representation.

This policy applies to all Facebook applications, including WhatsApp and its flagship social network Instagram.
While Facebook has reached a new standard for aggressive regulation of online content, apps like Twitter and Reddit, which also fall into the network category, have yet to address the issue with the same level of compliance.
