On February 16, 2024, the Federal Government of Pakistan is slated to announce the latest petrol and diesel prices for the forthcoming fortnight. Reports suggest a potential uptick in the prices of all petroleum products, spurred by escalating tensions in the Middle East, which have ripple effects on global oil prices.

The caretaker government, concurrently engaged in preparations for the transition to the newly elected government post the finalization of general election results by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), will be responsible for announcing the new petrol and diesel prices.

There’s speculation that the caretaker administration might opt to postpone adjustments to petrol and diesel prices scheduled for February 16, 2024, deferring this decision to the incoming government. A definitive announcement regarding this possibility is expected by midnight on February 15, 2024.

Should the government proceed with revising petroleum product prices, consumers could anticipate an increase, aligning with global oil market dynamics.
