Emirates is Adding New A380s To its Fleet Before The Summer
Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has bought five new widebody A380s ahead of strong summer demand. The airline will also launch new flights on its future A350 fleet.
The decision to buy new A380s comes as the airline hopes to return to pre-pandemic levels. Emirates Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Adnan Kazim predicted that this year will surpass last year’s passenger numbers.
The large, wide-body aircraft is currently being used to 43 destinations, with the airline operating around 3,080 weekly departures, or more than 440 flights per day across its global network.
Kazim announced that Emirates plans to expand its network in North America and other key regions, including China, while introducing flights to Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and London.
It will also launch flights to San Francisco on July 15, Singapore on June 1 and Houston on June 15, according to Kazim.
Emirates Sustainable Initiatives
As part of its decision to pursue sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives, Emirates operated a flight powered by 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as the aviation industry around the world hopes to reduce carbon emissions.
