After attempting to climb three mountains in New Hampshire, a Massachusetts teenager Emily Sotelo disappeared in the freezing cold.
Emily Sotelo, 19, was last seen by her mother in Franconia, New Hampshire, around 5 a.m. Sunday when he dropped her off at the trailhead toward Mount Lafayette, Haystack, and Flume.

According to Sotelo’s parents, she planned to hike several nearby trails but was unprepared for the bitter cold that soon followed her departure.
The search team announced their efforts in a Facebook post, saying: “Pemi has three teams looking for this missing hiker tonight.”
As the hunt grows more serious, officials told WMUR Monday the number had risen to 18.
According to 4000Footers.com, the Mount Lafayette hike is rated “Difficult” and climbs to an elevation of 5,260 feet.
Along with Mount Lincoln and Little Haystack Mountain, the mountain is part of a longer loop that Emily was set to ride.
“Her mother saw her walking up the trail, so we know,” said Charlie Stewart of Pemi Valley Search and Rescue.
“We started from this area and have an idea of its route.”
The National Guard also sent a helicopter to search for the missing hiker.
“For us, we do the drainage. We go up rivers and we go down streams,” Stewart said.
“We’ll follow them until we get close to the ridge, then we’ll cut off another one and go down,” he continued.
While Emily’s parents told WMUR that their daughter is generally an excellent hiker, she has little experience with winter hiking.
Stewart went on to say that the girl was not adapted to the cold.
He said: “She wasn’t really dressed for the temperatures at the moment, she was wearing slippers and maybe wind pants.”
Emily celebrates her 20th birthday on Wednesday. She was last seen in a brown jacket, sweatpants, and sneakers.
He has brown hair, and blue eyes and weighs 115 pounds. Other hikers join the search for the 19-year-old.
Andrew Azorian, a hiker from Merrimack, said: “From what they say, I’m going to walk pretty much the same route she tried to take.”
As a result, Azorian said, “I will be alert and vigilant.”
