Ella Troup Dies 6 Weeks Later From Stage 4 Cancer
A young woman has died six weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, leaving her husband and two children to celebrate Christmas without their mother.
Melbourne resident Ella Troup has diagnosed with stage four cancer and died during treatment, leaving her husband Ben and their young sons Ollie, 1, and Leo, 3, devastated.
Friends, family, and colleagues at GlobeWest, where she worked as a product manager for furniture and homewares, came together to raise money for the bereaved. Over $120,000 in donations has been received so far.
“Very few people knew that Ella was diagnosed with stage four cancer just six weeks ago,” friend Jordan MacLeod and Krystal Cameron wrote on the donation page.
“He was struggling to find the main source when he unexpectedly lost the fight in a trial.”
“We want to give Ben and his boys as much support as we can and this is one way we can do that.”
“If you can give, no matter how big or small, you help children carry their pain.”
Ben, who has been married to Ella for four years, broke his social media silence on Monday by posting a slow-motion video of Ella running down the beach to the tune of the Lumineers’ Just Like Heaven.
The crowdfunding site received a $30,000 donation from Troup GlobeWest.
Down The Street, one of the family’s neighborhood cafes posted a memorial on Facebook with the following message: “Last week we received the heartbreaking news that our beautiful client Ella passed away suddenly.”
“He left these two young children without a mother and a loving husband without a wife. Heartbreak doesn’t quite describe the pain.”
One of the comments on the fundraising page described Ella as “sunshine personified.”
“Although we have known each other for decades, it has been a pleasure to follow your journey from afar, your family has grown even stronger thanks to you.”
